Communications Support for the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center
U.S. DOT, Federal Highway Administration
For more than 8 years, MacroSys has provided a range of document development support services to the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center. Our communications experts use standardized and in-house style guides to edit hundreds of research publications such as technical reports, techbriefs, summary reports, factsheets, and other publications, as well as draft and edit 508 captions
for images within the publications. Services provided include writing and editing; style guide and template development and implementation; project management; quality control review; graphic design and layout creation; 508 compliance; and publication production for print and web. MacroSys also maintains a tracking system to monitor all editing jobs, provides regular updates to FHWA, and ensure iterations and final versions are delivered on time and with high quality.

This sample highlights phases of the production process followed to create a finalized Techbrief and an accompanying report. For each publication, MacroSys’s documentation specialists perform several iterations of edits to both the text and accompanying 508 captions for figures. For Techbriefs, a concurrent version is created and maintained using desktop publishing software.

MacroSys designs and oversees the publication of factsheets for FHWA’s Offices of Operations, Infrastructure, and Safety. MacroSys’s documentation specialists perform multiple iterations of edits of text and 508 captions, design the layout of text and graphics using desktop publishing software, and prepare finalized products for print and web.
