Strategic and Web Communications Support for SaferCar.gov
U.S. DOT, Volpe National Transportation Systems Center | Sponsored by NHTSA
Under contract with the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center, MacroSys supported the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) initiative to revamp the 5-star safety brand and improve the user experience on SaferCar.gov. MacroSys worked closely with key NHTSA staff to develop a communications strategy, brand, and messaging. Our experts applied these elements through redesigning SaferCar.gov,
which focused on helping car buyers and car owners more easily find and understand safety information
before purchasing a car and defect and recall information for cars they own. MacroSys then carried those design enhancements forward by making the same content, as well as additional features, easily accessible through
a mobile application, which was released in 2013.

MacroSys created a SaferCar mobile application based on the newly developed communications strategy, brand, and messaging. The mobile application contains the same necessary information as the redeveloped website as well as additional features.

MacroSys communications experts designed and distributed the SaferCar Technology factsheet to key stakeholders.

MacroSys developed a communications strategy, brand, and messaging and used these elements to redesign the SaferCar.gov website, which focused on helping car buyers and car owners more easily find and understand safety information before purchasing a car and defect and recall information for cars they own.

To aid in revamping the 5-star safety brand, MacroSys designed and creating several toolkit items for the SaferCar initiative, including pocket cards, sticks, and hangtags. MacroSys was responsible for revamping the overall branding and messaging of these communications pieces, including creating a new logo.
